Our Story
Years ago, our head instructor, Mr. D. Hopler, was having problems with bullies in school. His parents sent him to a karate school in their town, so that he could learn to stand up for and defend himself. While he did accomplish his parents’ goal for him, what he got out of his martial arts training was much more than just self-defense. He gained focus which helped aide him in remaining one of the top students in his class for his entire academic career. He also became much more self-confident and found a passion for teaching others as both a way to give back and as a means to help as many other families as possible.
A few years after he started training in the arts, his younger brother was also enrolled and followed the passionate path of both learning and teaching. Mr. Hopler and his brother have taught together for many, many years in various dojos, special classes, and at our association’s annual summer karate camp. A few years later, Mr. Hopler's sister-in-law would train as a student and eventual teacher in our Kenvil location, and become not only part of our Dojo family, but also a part of our actual family, and eventually their children would join many others in becoming part of the next generation of hard-working students. Mr. Hopler decided after years of teaching in his teacher’s dojos to open a new school within their association, so that he and his staff could help bring all of the benefits of properly taught martial arts to a new community, the one in which he lived, and help families in Randolph and the surrounding areas in the development of excellent character, proper real world self defense, and good mental and physical fitness. Our school is here to serve you and your family, and to develop not just good students, but also good people. This is where the next chapter of our story begins... |
